Receipts and mileage, filed to the job
Every contractor has the truck receipt pile. Lumber yard slips, gas, a box of screws, a dump run. Each one belongs to a job. Most of them end up in a shoebox.
Banay OS™ puts them where they belong. Snap a receipt and it's filed to the job. Mileage is off until the owner turns it on, and each driver sees and accepts a notice first. After that, Banay OS records drives only while a driver is clocked in and inside work hours your company sets.
Why receipts and miles get lost
Receipts and miles are small, so they're easy to let slide. One $14 receipt doesn't feel worth stopping for. But they add up across a year, and they're part of what each job really cost.
The IRS expects you to keep records that support the expenses on your return. Its recordkeeping guidance says you can use any system that clearly shows your income and expenses, and that you must keep records as long as they're needed to prove items on a return (IRS: Recordkeeping). A receipt in a glovebox is hard to find in three years. A receipt filed to a job isn't.

How mileage works in Banay OS
Mileage is off until the owner turns it on, and each driver sees and accepts a notice first. After that, Banay OS records drives only while you're clocked in and inside work hours your company sets. Nothing is recorded when you're clocked out or outside those hours. Location is recorded only while you're clocked in. The owner and the office or admin users you choose can see it; crew see only their own. Route points are deleted after 90 days by default (your company can choose 7 to 90 days); trip records stay for your mileage log.

Who it's for
Banay OS is for small residential contractors across the US. That means owner-operators who buy their own materials, and small crews where three people might hit the supply house in a day.
It was built by Dominic, a general contractor who got tired of not knowing what each job cost him or made him, and of all the paperwork that comes with it. The receipt flow came from his own truck.
What it won't do
Banay OS keeps records. It doesn't decide what's deductible, and it doesn't file your taxes. Your CPA does that. Banay OS makes the records easier to hand over.

FAQ
How do I get a receipt into Banay OS?
Snap a photo of it. The AI reads it and it's filed to the job.
Does Banay OS track mileage all the time?
No. Will Banay OS tell me what I can deduct?
No. It keeps your receipts and trip records organized by job. What you can deduct is a question for your CPA.
Where do receipts show up?
On the job they're filed to, and in that job's P&L.
*Open jobs show a preliminary P&L that updates each time you open it. It becomes official once the job's final P&L is in.
