These are deductions, not tax savings. What a deduction is worth depends on your tax rate. Mileage uses the IRS standard rate for July–December 2026 and only applies if you use the standard mileage method.

Where paperwork costs show up

Admin time. Every hour on invoices, receipts and scheduling is an hour not spent on a job. Your hourly rate times your admin hours puts a number on it.

Lost receipts. A business cost you can’t document is a deduction you may not be able to claim.

Unlogged miles. The IRS business standard mileage rate is 76¢ a mile for July 1 to December 31, 2026 (IRS standard mileage rates). Miles you don’t log are hard to claim.

Example: 200 unlogged miles × 76¢ = $152 a month in deductions at risk.

FAQ

How does the calculator work?

It multiplies the numbers you enter. Admin time is your hours a month times your hourly rate. Lost receipts are the number you lose a month times their average amount. Unlogged miles are multiplied by the IRS business standard mileage rate.

What mileage rate does it use?

76 cents a mile, the IRS business standard mileage rate for July 1 to December 31, 2026. The IRS changes the rate, so check its standard mileage rates page for the period you are filing.

Is a lost receipt the same as lost cash?

No. Deductions are not cash back. A deduction lowers the income you are taxed on, and what that means for you depends on your situation. Banay OS doesn't give tax advice. Talk to your tax pro.

Is anything I type stored?

No. The math runs in your browser. Nothing you type here is stored or sent anywhere.
